This document explains how to set up WiFi on a SINGLE Agartee Connectivity Modem.
Please ensure only one modem is plugged in during set-up. If you have multiple Agartee Connectivity Modems and you want to set up WiFi on them, you need to repeat the process for every one of them.
Note: This guide is only for "Gen 2" modems. If this modem is "Gen 1", we will need to connect it to WiFi using the gen-1 guide first so Agartee can upgrade it remotely: https://agartee.freshdesk.com/a/solutions/articles/151000081040
Prior to start the following steps, please make sure to:
- Forget all Agartee Modems from your phone's Bluetooth settings

3. Setup your Agartee Connectivity Modem
After successfully connecting your iPhone to the modem, you should see a list of steps remaining (figure 3.1a)
3.1 Choose destination Home
After successfully connecting your iPhone to the modem, you should see a list of steps remaining. Press "Assign to Home" once you see the steps like below:
Note: If you've already assigned this modem to a home, you can tap "WiFi Setup" instead and jump to step 3.2.
Figure-3.1a: Remaining steps (Assign to home, WiFi setup)
Then tap on the home that this modem will be assigned to. If you don't see the home in this list, they may need to authorize Agartee in their PointClickCare software.
Figure-3.2b: Choose Home to assign
You should soon see a success message like figure 3.2c below. If there is an error message, you may need to turn off/on wifi in your phone settings, or try on mobile data, and then try again.
Once you see the success message, press "Setup WiFi" to move on to step 3.2
Figure-3.2c: Home Assigned Successfully pop-up
3.3 Connect Agartee Connectivity Modem to WiFi
You should now see a screen that says "WiFi Setup". It may take a minute to search for WiFi networks nearby.
Once it's done searching, you should see a list of networks like figure-3.3a below.
Figure-3.3a: choose WiFi network
Tap on a network in this list (only secure networks are supported) to connect the modem to it.
- New: The app will now check to see if this network is supported on the Accu-Chek meter. Most networks are supported, but some may not be. If a home has a separate "5G" connection, we may need to go back and pick one that's not 5G.
- If the selected network is not supported by the Accu-Chek meter, the app will warn you. If you continue with this network, you can still set up this modem to upload readings when meters are docked by tapping "Modem only". Ideally, if you see this message, we should ask IT for another SSID/network that we can use.
- Figure 3.3b: WiFi network not supported by Accu-Chek meter
- If this is the first modem you're connecting to this network, you'll need to enter in the WiFi password and then tap Connect (picture-3.3c)
Figure-3.3c: Enter WiFi password
- If this is not the first modem you're connecting to this network, it will remember the password from the last time. If for some reason two homes have the same SSID (WiFi name) but different passwords, or a home changes their WiFi password, press the (i) button and then "forget password"; then go back and try connecting again. You should then be able to type in the new password.
It may take a minute to connect and test the WiFi connection. If it succeeds, you will see a message like picture-3.3d below, and this modem is now finished setup. Ensure the Accu-Chek meter is docked, and the base unit is plugged into the Agartee Connectivity Modem, and then press "Connect Meter" to connect the docked Accu-Chek meter to WiFi for the wireless setup.
Figure-3.3d: Agartee Connectivity Modem connected to WiFi
However, you may see an error message (figure-3.3e), if the WiFi password you entered is incorrect, or the network is not in range. You may want to double-check the password and try again.
Figure-3.3e: WiFi setup failed
4. Connect Accu-Chek Meter to WiFi
If you tapped "Connect Meter" in figure 3-3 above, the app should now start the Accu-Chek meter setup process, automatically using the same WiFi SSID and password you used before. This step may take 1-2 minutes, so please be patient and keep your phone's screen on, and near the Accu-Chek modem.
Figure 4.1: Meter setup process
After 1-2 minutes, you should see a pop-up saying to re-dock the meter (see figure 4.2). It's important to follow the steps carefully and in order:
1. Take the Accu-Chek meter off the base unit
2. Wait for the meter screen to turn off
3. Dock the meter again
4. Press the "Check Status" button in the app
Figure 4.2: Re-dock pop-up
Now the app will wait for the changes to be applied on the meter. This step may take 1-2 minutes, so please be patient and wait with your phone's screen on and near the modem.
Figure 4.3: Waiting for changes to be applied to meter
Once the meter is done setup, you should see the following pop-up.
Figure 4.4: Meter setup complete
Note: In rare circumstances, the communication with the meter may be interrupted and you will see a message saying "meter setup failed". In most cases, retrying the setup process will solve the issue.
5. Test Wireless setup
5.1: Diagnostic Test
If you set up the Accu-Chek meter to WiFi, please run a diagnostic test on the Accu-Chek meter to verify that everything is set up correctly.
The diagnostic test can be found on the Accu-Chek meter under:
Main Menu -> Diagnostics -> last page -> "Test" button.
Please wait 30s for the test to complete.
Figure 5.1: Diagnostics Wireless Status test result
If you see only checkmarks (no red X like the image above has), the system is good to go. If there are any red X's, then the readings will not go through wirelessly, and the Accu-Chek must be docked for readings to go to PCC until it is resolved.
**Note: If you see a red X at the "Contacted DMS" line like figure 5.1, it may be caused by this meter being connected to a public / guest WiFi network.
5.2: Patient test (optional)
If possible, a patient test will let us verify that everything is set up correctly (date & time, assigned to the correct site, WiFi, etc).
Take a patient test with the Accu-Chek meter and confirm that it appears on PCC (check on PCC 1 minute after completing the patient test sample on the Accu-chek meter). Remember to press the green checkmark after taking the reading so that it is uploaded to PCC immediately.
6: Next Steps
6.1: Next Modem
Once the meter is set up with the WiFi network, you can press "next modem" on the pop-up (figure-4.4) or "exit" in the corner, and then "search" to disconnect and go back to the main screen.
After going back to the main screen, it is now safe to unplug the modem.
6.2: (Optional) Sign out of App
If you have no more modems to set up, you can press "exit" in the corner, and then "sign out" to sign out of the app.
